WHAT
IS IASL?
The Iowa Association of School Librarians advocates for strong school library
programs in all Iowa schools and provides leadership, education and support for its members.
MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS INCLUDE
By joining IASL you have available to you many opportunities for
professional development and professional networking. You also receive the electronic IASL Journal with your membership. The organization sponsors a conference each spring and several sessions at the fall ILA conference.
Members also receive reduced conference registration rates.
The organization maintains a listserv
and a Ning called IA Teacher Librarians (check out our member pages), which provides quick dissemination of news and information. In addition, IASL provides a forum for issues of broader
interest to Iowa's school library community such as discussions of collaboration issues, news of legislative
initiatives, and professional development opportunities.
There is opportunity for you to become
active within the organization. If you wish to have greater participation within the organization by serving on a committee
or by running for an office, please contact our Board President or complete the volunteer form and email it to the President The President utilizes the completed forms to help select people to serve
on the organization's many committees.
HOW TO JOIN
Membership to IASL is obtained by first joining the Iowa Library Association (ILA)
and then by checking the "IASL -- $0" box located on the ILA membership form. Print and fill out the membership form.

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL LIBRARIANS (AASL) -- The AASL, a division of the American Library Association, is a professional association of schoollibrarians.
AASL provides a broad range of professional services & programs for its membership, and there are many ways that members
can become involved in the group.
