WHAT IS IASL?
The Iowa Association of School Librarians advocates for strong school library programs in all Iowa schools and provides leadership, education, and support for its members.
HOW TO JOIN
Joining IASL is only $5 when you join ILA! You can register for the first time or renew online here. Make sure to check the box to join the Iowa Assoc. School Librarians ($5) subdivision.
ILA Membership fees are based on your annual salary and range from $30-$120. Membership to ILA is FREE for current full-time students!
By joining IASL you have available to you many opportunities for professional development and professional networking. The organization sponsors a fantastic conference each spring and several sessions at the fall ILA conference. Members also receive discounted conference registration rates!
The organization maintains a listserv, a Facebook page, a Twitter account, and a Pinterest board which provide quick dissemination of news and information as well as opportunities for collaboration and inspiration. In addition, IASL provides a forum for issues of broader interest to Iowa's school library community such as discussions of collaboration issues, news of legislative initiatives, and professional development opportunities.
There are many opportunities for you to become active within the organization. If you wish to have greater participation within the organization by serving on a committee, contributing to our social media outlets, or by running for an office, please complete the Get Involved in IASL! form.
IASL Membership Listserv Information
IASL also offers its own listserv to members. You must be member of ILA and IASL to send a message to IASL listserv members at IASL@iowalibraryassociation.org.
National Association Affiliation
The American Association of School Librarians, a division of the American Library Association, is a professional association of school librarians. AASL provides a broad range of professional services & programs for its membership, and there are many ways that members can become involved in the group.
